Was It Already Week 4?
Today was fun.
I did some research that that allowed me to see previous seasons in development, did some paperwork and forms, and a bit of photo shop work with the prototypes we recently got in. This might sound boring but it isn’t! This the sort of stuff I really want to know. I want to understand how a prototype order is placed, the schedules you can expect to encounter when producing in...

Today I did a lot of photoshop work, and learned a few new techniques. By the end of the day I had gotten the knack of things, I think.
It felt really good to learn something.

New York is a city of the future and a city of its past. It thrives on extremes. Things happen here that could not happen anywhere else in the world.

I wish I could tell you more about what I’ve been doing at my internship. Sadly, you know, confidentiality and all that…. But I can tell you that I’ve had a fantastic time both at work and out of it.
I laid in the center of the Creators Project’s Origin Cube for 45 minutes, and ran around the Lynchian noir world of Sleep No More until 2am. I drank in Brooklyn dive bars and lame East Village...

Week 1
I made it through my first week as intern! I have run errands, made buckle samples in leather, sourced hardware and cording, sketched insole ideas, and spent more money on lunches than I thought possible. The man with his name on the door introduced himself to me, people have taken me out for drinks, I’ve met other interns, various folks, and fought my way into social circles. I’m...

Before I zzzzz
I am utterly knackered, but before I pass out at the uncool hour of 9:30pm, I want to let you know that the internship is starting slowly but I think it’s going well. My first day was short and slightly awkward. Today, my second day, was long and busy. I will tell you lots more once I’ve had a restful night and can think of pretty words to explain how starting a new job (albeit unpaid)...

Manhattan
I could very well fall in love with New York.
The streets feel like the direct descendents of Europe with the added spice of American neurosis and tension. There are crazy people, confusing train signage, filth and fabulousity at every turn. I’ve seen acapella soul, marching bands, hookers, hustlers, tourist traps, man-made nature, and the twisting black geometry of fire escapes scarring...

Landed
In case you were wondering, I have landed safely in NYC and am sitting in my new Brooklyn bedroom unpacking and noting that I need a hell of a lot more clothes hangers.
My cabbie was chatty and hilariously serious about politics. My host is lovely and has two kittens that have made me their new best friend. My room is tiny but faces a tree lined street of brick houses.
Tomorrow I go wander...
